Well things have been going well since the release of my ebook last week.

My list is growing everyday and i am now up to 73 subscribers and growing.

Well it’s finally here my very first ebook “Newbies Guide to Getting Started Online”

Hey everyone how are you all doing??  good i hope.

Well i’ve been keeping busy with trying to reach my goals i set for myself in my last post.

One of those goals was to finish my ebook before the new year and im nearly there i just have a few minor things to do with it, i should have my graphics soon so i can finish my squeeze page and hopefully i can release it early in the new year.

As i was coming near the end of my ebook i thought it would be cool to put in one of those fancy signatures.

You know the ones you see at the bottom of a sales letter or at the end of an ebook.

I always wondered how they did that so i typed into Google “signature creator” and the first result that came up was a cool site where you can easily create your own personal signature.

It’s pretty simple to use this site but i created a tutorial video anyway on how to use it, there’s probably no need for this video but i just wanted to get some practice in creating videos.

Hey guys and girls…. how are you all doing?

I haven’t been blogging much lately in fact it was October since my last blog post but im back and i wanted to write this post to tell you what ive been up to.

I took a trip to my home country Ireland to see my family which was great….well not everything was great the flight wasn’t all that enjoyable nearly 24 hours from Sydney to Dublin and back again, i won’t be in a hurry to do that flight again.

While i was over there i really didn’t get much time to work on my business because i was spending my time with my family and hanging out with some old friends.

What i did do was some thinking, thinking of ideas to write my first ebook.

I asked myself….What would of helped me the most when i started out online?

The answer gave me an idea, i said to myself why not write an ebook that will give people some direction, somewhere to start or even just give people some idea of what Internet marketing is all about.

When i started out back in August 2008 i didn’t have a clue what Internet marketing was and how i was going to make money from it.

Ok i still haven’t made money online but i was taught a proven system by my mentor Alex Jeffreys and now im in the process of implementing that system.

Alex also taught me that you only have to be a few steps ahead of people to succeed so i got to writing my first ebook recently and i hope to release it in the new year.

I got to tell you im really getting excited here,  im about 20 pages into my ebook and it’s coming together nicely, im fired up  and can’t wait to get it finished.

I also created some video tutorials for my ebook, doing these videos i was stepping out of my comfort zone even though im not in front of the camera it can be hard to record your voice, it was for me anyway.

But i was determined to get them done so i downloaded a free trial of camtasia studio 6 and got down to work,  you can see my effort in my How to Videos page.

Also i have sat down and spent some time planning for my business.

Planning really does help a lot, it keeps you on track on what you are doing and it clears up what needs to be done in your business to move forward.

After doing some planning i set myself some goals for the new year,  setting goals really gets me working on my business and best of all it gets me moving forward fast.

So here are my goals i set for myself….

-Get ebook finished

-Arrange graphics for ebook

-Set up a squeeze page

-Write follow up emails in Aweber

-Write more blog posts

-Work on traffic generation for blog and squeeze page

I was going to try and get my ebook finished and released by the end of December but with Christmas and the New Year celebrations just around the corner i decided to set a date to the 15th of January.

Well that’s my plan and it should keep me busy for the rest of this year, i better get to work if i want to reach my goals.

I started my blog at the end of July 2009 and at the start i was determined
to get as much traffic to my blog as possible.

I had planned to use as many methods as possible to get a flood of people visit
my blog but as time went on i lost momentum and as a result i haven’t been getting
many visitors to my blog to date.

So it’s time i re-plan and get down to work.

So here is how i will drive more traffic to my blog…

Blog Commenting- This has worked for me in the past i just have to spend more time doing it, if i spend more time commenting on other blogs related to my niche and add value in my commenting i will see a big improvement.

Twitter- I have  a small stream of traffic coming from twitter and i have only 424 followers to date, so i need to concentrate more on following targeted people in my niche and that’s really the way twitter works you follow someone and they follow you back as long as your following targeted people related to your niche and your creating value you will get traffic using twitter.

Forums- I haven’t been active in any forums and it’s something i have to start doing because not only can you drive traffic to your blog with forums it’s a great place to get to know people related to your niche and find future JV partners.
I have Alex Jeffreys students forum and other Internet marketing forums like Warrior Forum and Digital Point Forum so im going to start getting involved, answer and even ask as many questions as possible and add as much value as i can putting my link to my blog and my twitter ID in my signature this will help a great deal in driving traffic to my blog.

Social Bookmarking-This is something i haven’t worked on yet but i will submit some of my better blog posts to sites like Delicious and Stumbleupon and hope that one of them takes off, i could get hundreds or even thousands of visitors as it goes viral.

Video- This is something that im learning at the moment, i have started a course called Video Marketing Classroom by Josh Bartlett.
In Josh’s course he tells all about video marketing, how to get comfortable in front of the camera, how to edit and upload your videos and much much more and here’s the best part it’s free.

SEO- A lot of the above will see my ranking in the search engines improve, if i keep providing good quality content on my blog it will attract more traffic therefore stepping up my blog to a higher ranking.

JV Giveaways- I have started to get ideas to write my first ebook and when i have finished writing it i will be submitting it to as many JV Giveaways as possible.
When people read my ebook they can find their way to my blog via the link within the book.

My Mailing List- As my list grows more and more i will contact my list with all the fresh content i put on my blog. This will attract a lot more traffic as my list gets bigger.

Well that’s my plan and if i hit all these points and be consistent with them i will see much more unique visitors to my blog.

By the time i found out what a blog was and by the time i learned about
setting up a blog i knew that i wanted to get into the “Internet Marketing” niche.

In just over 12 months of learning online skills ive become very passionate,
enthusiastic and more and more knowledgeable about Internet marketing.

And that’s what it boils down to, you need to choose a niche that you are both
passionate and knowledgeable about.

If your passionate about a particular topic it will shine through in your
writing and that passion will make it easier to produce more and more good informative
content for your blog.

It will also make it easier to interact with people that visit your blog and it will be much
more enjoyable for you.

A bad thing to do would be start a blog on a subject you know nothing about or couldn’t
care less about but you think there is money to be made, you could be right,but what value
are you going to bring to the subject matter you are blogging about if you have no interest
yourself.

You don’t need to be an expert in whatever topic you choose to blog about you just need to
be a few steps ahead of your audience.

Just blog about what you know and share with your readers what you are learning, share with them
what you have experienced or what you are experiencing, share with them some tips or advice
you might have on your subject.

Visit other blogs in your niche, take a look at what other people are writing about and
create your own post around that topic.

Now i’m not saying to copy them but put your own spin on things and add to the subject.

Read the comments on these blogs, this will give you a good indication what people like or
what people don’t like, comments can give you good feedback from your market and will give
you ideas of what to write on your blog.

Create as much value on your blog as possible, if you create value your readers will keep
coming back to your blog and it will also attract more traffic to your blog.

Visit other blogs in your niche and comment on posts related to your topic make sure your
comments are of good value, communicate with the blog owner and add more to the subject in your
comment leaving a link back to your blog.

When people visit their blog and are interested in your comment they can click on your link
bringing them over to your blog, you can keep doing this to as many blogs as you like.

This is a great way of driving traffic to your blog, ill be talking more about how you can drive
traffic to your blog very soon.

I can remember back before i had my blog set up, i didn’t know where to start, i
didn’t even know what a blog was and i certainly didn’t know anything about setting up a blog.

When i think back to it now i spent a lot of time searching the internet for video’s,
articles, blog posts or anything at all that would tell me about setting up a blog.

This was a lot of time wasted, i could of used this time to think about what i was
going to put on my blog.

I considered outsourcing it, just get someone else to set it up for me so i could
concentrate on more important stuff like writing out a plan for my blog and getting
ideas of what to write, but me being me i wanted to know for myself how to set
up a blog.

I got as far as purchasing my domain name and purchasing hosting for that domain name, i
knew how to do all of that but when it came to setting up a blog….i was lost.

Then all of my questions were answered when i foundThe Wordpress Classroom by
Matt Wolfe. Matt is a fellow student of mine in Alex Jeffreys coaching program, he has put
together a series of videos explaining everything you need to know about setting up a blog.

Everything from purchasing a domain name, hosting, installing a wordpress blog,installing a
theme, adding cool features to your blog he even explains how you can drive traffic to your
blog and making money with your blog.

The videos are so easy to follow, there short and get straight to the point, i only wish
i found The Wordpress Classroom back when i was lost searching the internet for answers.

So that’s doing it yourself but if your thinking of outsourcing your blog.

The only outsourcing ive done are some articles with elance.com , so i don’t have
much experience with outsourcing yet but a few tips i can give you, when your
posting your project give as much details of what you want done as possible.

A good idea would be visit blogs related to your niche to get some ideas, like an idea
for a theme or header image, when your posting your project you could give the url addresses
to these blogs and explain what you like on them, this will give the person bidding on
your project a good indication of what you want on your blog.

Also ask them to provide samples of similar projects they have done in the past and check
their feedback from previous customers, this will help you decide who to award the project.

List building is essential to building an online business,

It’s all about building a relationship with the people on your list giving
them as much value, free content and help as possible so that they will warm
to you, like and trust you, then hopefully later do business with you $$$…

But the question on many peoples lips is “How do i build a list”

Well it wasn’t to long ago when i asked this question,

But not only did i want to know how to build a list i wanted
to know the easiest and fastest way to build a list,

I found the answer when i received a email back in may 09 telling me all about
ListBuildingWithAlex by Alex Jeffreys,

This was the first time i heard of Alex and now i am a student in his coaching
program and let me tell you this man over delivers,

In ListBuildingWithAlex he explains an easy and fast formula to building a list and
the best thing about this formula is you can build your list without having
your own product… pretty cool huh,

He explains how you can literally build a list in a matter of days using other
peoples products instead of going through the long process of creating your own,

Now im not saying you shouldn’t create your own product this is just a cool way
of getting subscribers onto your list now so you can concentrate on creating your
product later,

I don’t have my own product but i have built a list using Alex’s formula
and the feedback i get from my list will help me in creating my first product,

Hey everyone… Nick here,

Id like to talk to you about planning and how important it is for you and your online business.

In the 12 months i’ve been learning online skills i’ve heard quiet a few people talking about planning,

I’ve heard things like “You need to plan to succeed” or “If you don’t plan you will get lost and frustrated”.

But when i heard this i would say to myself “Planning is a waste of my time i have more important things to be doing” or “I don’t need to plan i have everything planned in my head” but the reality is if you don’t plan you are wasting your time.

Every evening on the way home from work i would be thinking of what i need to do on my computer when i get home, i would have 3 to 4 things planned in my head that need doing, but when i got home i would sit down in front of my computer and the first thing i would do is check my emails….BIG MISTAKE.

It’s the worst thing you can do, it was for me anyway, i would look at my emails and get sucked in i would just keep on reading, before you know it an hour has past or even 2 hours and the 3 to 4 things i had planned in my head would be forgotten about, i would be lucky to get anything done.

That’s why planning is so important.

Anything that needs doing, or any ideas you have get it down on paper just get it out of your head.

Planning has really changed the way i work now, im more organised than ever before and im getting my work done.

In module 1 of his coaching program he focused on planning for your business, your goals, your income targets etc.
